This website is under construction – but you’ve come to the right place for information about the community forum on 17th March 2020 at 11.30 at PHN Hub, Horseshoe Bend, Gympie – Unfortunately this event has been CANCELLED due to coronavirus risk guidelines

What is a trauma informed community? One definition is a community which recognises the collective impact of adverse experiences and fosters resilience and well-being in its residents

Join us in imagining and brainstorming what we can do here in Gympie to make this a reality, a place where we ask people “What happened to you?” instead of “What’s wrong with you?”

Discussion points on the day include:

  • Access to mental health services, few if any bulk billing therapists in Gympie – where can people access the right therapy at the right place and the right time
  • How can we raise awareness of the impact of trauma
  • Symptoms of trauma – far reaching and diverse
  • How have other communities managed this?
  • How can we ensure that government bodies do not re-traumatise people who ask for assistance and support

And on and on!

Please bring your own ideas and suggestions – Gympie is well placed to embrace this initiative – lets work together to enhance well being, foster resilience and make Gympie a safe place

This event is now CANCELLED
